This series of switchboards were designed taking into account operation experience of switchboards "Borets-01" as well as numerous requests of field service engineers of the end users.
Switchboards are manufactured using modem components and have numerous control and protection functions and user-friendly design.

Switchboards are equipped with the liquid-crystal display (LCD) and power-independent memory. Two-row display shows all information about motor working condition as communication consisting of full names in Russian (or English) languages. Perception of such communication is much more clear and easy. 2-Mb memory allows recording 32768 real time events, recording all changes of settings with indication of date and time of change, its new and previous value. Due to power-independent memory information about switchboard operating parameters is kept even in case of oil-filed power supply failure. The recorded data can be downloaded into laptop computer or data readout and input device or can be transferred to the automatic control system using RS-485 protocol.

Controller has 4 degrees of protection against unauthorized access to change settings.

All switchboards are equipped with new generation controllers "Kaskad2-200". Controller "Kaskad2-200" contains all necessary power sources, measuring and input circuits. As a result, the switchboard practically consists only of power elements. This allowed making spacious switchboards that are easy in service and have very good maintainability in field environment. Besides, simplicity of the switchboard power part helped Borets' engineers to develop small-size switchboard "Borets-12".

At customer's request the delivery set can consist of:

  • portable data loading and reading device
  • laptop computer
  • reduced-current starter (will be installed intoswitchboard)
  • downhole sensor system of any manufacturer.

Design characteristics of switchboards

 

"Borets-11M1" is the improved model of switchboard equipped with a new generation controller "Kaskad 2-200". Measurement of operating parameters is performed at a low-voltage side of transformer. High-voltage cables are not connected to the switchboard, which simplifies installation and ensures better maintenance safety. Current calibration is executed directly in the display of parameters. The small cabinet is lifted up high on two support feet with big stability platform, thus ensuring convenient cable rooting and connection. There are switchboard modifications with cable connections at switchboard lower and rear parts in a separate compartment.
"Kaskad 2-200" controller contains all required sources of power supply, metering and input circuits. So, switchboard has absolutely no control circuits and comprises only power elements. This allowed make switchboard in small dimensions that simplifies operation and repair works in field conditions.
Switchboards are equipped with LCDs and energy independent memory. Information on motor operation is transmitted to a two-row display in Russian or English. The controller memory keeps information of 63 last reasons for starts and stops. Volume of memory allows keep 32768 parameter records of ESP operation.
Also, the memory keeps date and time of each set value change along with previous and current set values. Data required for further processing, can be read by a portative computer, reading and data input blocks or transmitted to the system of telemetry by means of standard RS-485 interface. Switchboard can be connected to any type of underground telemetry. Controller automatically determines type of downhole sensor, reads information from it and controls and protects set values of pressure, temperature and vibrations.

 

Switchboards of this type are improved “Borets-01MV” switchboards by means of installation of controller model “Kaskad2-200”. It allowed significantly simplifying power part of the switchboard, enlarging its functional capabilities, improving maintainability and simplifying servicing. Operational capabilities of the switchboard are the same as for the switchboard “Borets-11Ì1”. Switchboards are manufactured to fit currents 250, 400 and 630 À. A switchboard with a built-in soft starter can be supplied (model “Borets- 01UMVP). Connection of power cables is done through a separate compartment at the upper rare part of the cabinet. Borets switchboards are compatible with downhole sensor of any manufacturer.

 

Advantages of the small-size switchboard:
- switchboard can be installed on the top of the TMPN transformer tank (installation can be done on transformers of different manufacturers);
- moving, assembling, installing and servicing of the switchboard can be done by one person without any hoisting devices (switchboard weight is less than 110 lb (50 kg) for 250 A switchboard);
- can be transported in the boot of "Niva" VAZ-2121 car.
Control and protection is done by the controller of new generation "Kaskad2-200", so the functional capabilities of the switchboard are the same as for "Borets-11M1" switchboards. However, the switchboard is compact but it has convenient space for power cables connection.

 

“Borets-04” type switchboards are designed for control, protection and adjustment of speed rotation of submersible motors with capacity of up to 94 hp (70 kW). Switchboard is designed for operation under current of 250 À. In contrast to other models of Borets switchboards that provided control and safety of the motor, this model is equipped with a VSD and is capable to perform the following:
- smooth speed-up and shutdown of motor;
- automatic removal of gas lock from ESP system;
- operational frequency can be programmed;
- automatic adjusting of the operational parameters (pressure using the data of the down hole sensor or telemetry, load values);
- changing of motor starting moment (forced start up); - changing of motor rotation direction (reverse);
- automatic motor shutdown and subsequent speed up to the desired frequency.
All data stored in the switchboard controller may be readout by the following devices:
- a portable PC via COM-PORT using RS-232 protocol;
- from the telemetry system via the RS-485 interface;
- a portable data loading and reading device type “BSVP-2”.
At the customer’s request the switchboard can be equipped with downhole sensor system. Climatic design type UHL. Allocation category 1.

 

“Borets-04M” type switchboards are designed for control, protection and adjustment of speed rotation of submersible motors with capacity of up to 134 hp (100 kW). Switchboard is designed for operation under currents of 250 À and 450 A. In contrast to other models of Borets switchboards that provided control and safety of the motor, this model is equipped with a VSD and is capable to perform the following:
- smooth speed-up and shutdown of motor;
- automatic removal of gas lock from ESP system;
- operational frequency can be programmed;
- automatic adjusting of the operational parameters (pressure using the data of the down hole sensor or telemetry, load values);
- changing of motor starting moment (forced start up);
- changing of motor rotation direction (reverse);
- automatic motor shutdown and subsequent speed up to the desired frequency.
All data stored in the switchboard controller may be readout by the following devices:
- a portable PC via COM-PORT using RS-232 protocol;
- from the telemetry system via the RS-485 interface;
- a portable data loading and reading device type “BSVP-2”.
At the customer’s request the switchboard can be equipped with downhole sensor system. Climatic design type UHL. Allocation category 1.

 

“Borets-06Ì” type switchboards are designed for control, protection and adjustment of speed rotation of submersible motors with capacity of up to 215 hp (160 kW). Switchboards of this type are designed for operation under current of 630 À. In contrast to other models of Borets switchboards that provided control and safety of the motor, this model is equipped with a VSD and is capable to perform the following:
- smooth speed-up and shutdown of motor;
- automatic removal of gas lock from ESP system;
- operational frequency can be programmed;
- automatic adjusting of the operational parameters (pressure using the data of the down hole sensor or telemetry, load values);
- changing of motor starting moment (forced start up);
- changing of motor rotation direction (reverse);
- automatic motor shutdown and subsequent speed up to the desired frequency.
All data stored in the switchboard controller may be readout by the following devices:

“Borets-05” type switchboard is designed for protection and control of submersible electric motors with capacity of up to 483 hp (360 kW). The switchboard is operating on low voltage of 380 V and currents of 800 A and 1,000 À. The control and protection of the motor is carried out by the new controller type “Kaskad2-200”. At the rear part of the spacious cabinet the design features a convenient inlet for power cables and their connection. Models that have an index “P” in its description have the built-in soft starter. The switchboard is compatible with downhole sensor systems of any manufacturer.

 

“Borets-07” type switchboard is designed for protection and control of submersible electric motors with capacity of up to 671 hp (500 kW). The switchboard is operating on low voltage of 380 V and currents of 1600 A . The control and protection of the motor is carried out by the new controller type “Kaskad2-200”. At the rear part of the spacious cabinet the design features a convenient inlet for power cables and their connection. Models that have an index “P” in its description have the built-in soft starter. The switchboard is compatible with downhole sensor systems of any manufacturer.

Efficiency testing
device UP-2

Efficiency testing device UP-2 is designed for testing efficiency of switchboards "Borets-11M1", "Borets-01UMV" as well as other equipment with controller "Kaskad2-200". Device has refined weight and dimensions parameters (weight 11 lb (5 kg)), dimensions 9.25x6.69x10.63 in. (235x170x270 mm) and provides the following testing functions:
- testing of single phase measurements in full range (0-5A along secondary winding of current transformers);
- testing of each phase power factor measurements;
- adjustment of insulation resistance - discretely: 30K, 47K, 510K and 1200K.
Device UP-2 can be used for testing of any "Borets" switchboards, including switchboards of other manufacturers.

- ambient temperature:-76°F...104°F (-60°C...40°C);
- protection rate: IP43;
- required power supply: 3 phases, AC, 380V, 50 Hz.

Test benches for controllers check-up SPK-2 and SPK-3

Test bench SPK-2 is designed for check-up and efficiency testing of controllers "Kaskad 1-100" and "Kaskad 1M-100" in laboratory conditions. The controllers operate as a part of "Borets-01" switchboard. Controller outlets are checked with indicating lamps and pointer indicator that indicates switching on of heating.
Power supply for test bench is 220 V, 50 Hz. Power consumption is 0.08 hp (60 w) max. Dimensions: 15.59x6.89x12.87 in. (396x175x327 mm), weight is 30.9 lb (14 kg) max. Controller is connected to the test bench by two flat ribbon cables. There is a space in the test bench for cabling and removable cover for protection of front panel.
Test benches fully simulate operation of switchboard by sending adjustable signals to controller outlets. Besides, test bench helps to check controller during operation in low temperatures (in heat-chamber). Test bench SPK-3 is designed for check-up and efficiency testing of new controllers "Kaskad2-200" in laboratory and field conditions. The controller operates as a part of switchboards "Borets-11M1", "Borets-01UMV" or other appropriate equipment. The test bench is equipped with the liquid-crystal display (LCD) and keypad for manual simulation of switchboard operation. After connection of the controller test bench automatically sends the report to the display about its efficiency with identified fault.
Power supply for test bench is 220 V, 50 Hz.

 

Electrical equipment connection hook-up unit BPE-1 is designed to enable connect of various portable electrical devices (with a rating of 60 À max) with a socket. This unit will allow the removal of the socket, type ShSch-40x60 which periodically fails, from the switchboard and to locate the socket on the cluster pad in a easily accessible place. The electric equipment hook-up unit consists of: - socket typeShSch-40x60; - automatic breaker; - a blocking device of the power socket connector. The blocking device is connected to an automatic breaker which prevents work with power socket connector when socket is switched on. The mains break-off switch is located on the front panel of the cabinet. Options: built-in watt meter can be installed (BPE-1S type).

 

The new data loading and reading device BSVP-2 is a portable device for data read out and transmitting it to a laptop. The data is stored in the power-independent memory of Borets switchboards equipped with a controller of any type. New settings from the laptop memory can be downloaded into the controller with the use of the BSVP-2 device. The device is connected to the switchboard or PC by a communication cable. Preparation of settings for inputting into the switchboard and readout data processing is made with the use of program “Communicator-2002” supported by the Windows operating system. Retrieved data can be presented in table or a graph, can be printed out and converted into Microsoft Excel file. The program has an advanced reference system. Since the new controller “Kaskad2-200” is able to store a high amount of data (2 MB) it is possible to make partial information readout from controller: last 5%, last 25% or 100%. Power supply of the BSVP-2 device is done through the COM-port connector of the switchboard or from a AC power line of 220 V, 50 Hz

 

Motor soft starter device type UPP2 is supplied as a part of switchboards models “Borets-01UMVP”, “Borets-05” and “Borets-07” to decrease starting currents of the submersible electric motors with capacity of up to 671 hp (500 kW). Data on the unit performance, its readiness for operation, desired operating mode and information on malfunctions is displayed on the display of the controller “Kaskad2-200”. Settings of the desired operating modes and selection of the operating parameters of the unit is made from the keypad of the controller “Kaskad2- 200”. The device is protected by the patent No. 18027 - “Device for soft start of induction three-phase electric motor with a short-circuited rotor”.
Operating mode

Reduced-current start - for regular motor start Programmable starting torque is 0% to 90%. Programmable motor acceleration time is 0 to 30 sec
Inching - when increased starting torque is required; it is followed by reduced-current starting mode Programmable time of inching mode is 0 to 2 sec.  Programmable starting torque when changing from inching to reduced-current start is 0% to 90%.  Programmable acceleration time is 0 to 30 sec
Full switching start - when direct start of motor is required
