Borets constantly seeks and introduces new materials and technologies used in the design and manufacture of products.
The company’s physical metallurgy laboratory is the department that performs selection and introduction of new high-strength-, corrosion-resistant- and wear-resistant materials, hard alloys as well as methods of temperature treatment and surface strengthening for the components and units used to build oilfield equipment. The laboratory has the latest research equipment and test benches that enable testing of separate components and units.
The lab also co-operates with leading research institutes and machine-building companies.

Radial bearings
ESPs designed for the operation in wells with high abrasives and corrosion content at high loads and vibration are equipped with radial bearings made of sintered VK-VK and SN-SN hard alloys. Friction factor in water is not bigger than 0.04 depending on the load. These radial bearings are very reliable and each consignment is tested on a special testing bench.
Fasteners
Fasteners used in the ESP systems are long life bolts, pins and nuts made of high-strength steel. Each consignment of fasteners is tested as per IMASH methods.
End pieces and protective parts
End pieces of ESPs and gas separators are made of steel 40X or 12X18N10T. Liners of gas separator are made of steel 08X18N10T.
Housing coating
Borets manufactures ESPs and motors with high corrosion-resistant- and wear-resistant metal coatings. Coating is sprayed on the surface of housings.
This coating is of high strength and plasticity and does not crack when tubes bend during pull in of pump.
Materials of a coating: stainless steel with impregnation epoxyde composite.
Thickness of a coating - 150 ….. 350 microns.
Hardness, HRC - 36 …. 46 (Ím 380 … .470)
