Seal sections

Seal section is one of the most critical components of electric motor. Seal sections are designed for securing of submersible electric motor inner cavity from entering formation fluid and for compensation of oil heat expansion.

Borets manufactures one-piece seal sections - PB92, PB103, PB114, PB130, TU3665-010-00217780-01.

The following design features ensure better stability at high temperatures and reliability of the seals:

  • all seals are equipped with «John Crane» mechanical seals
  • US made valve systems are installed to provide the release of excessive internal pressure and removal of free gas phase from submersible motor oil chamber during ESP system well operation
  • diaphragm bags are made of rubber with temperature rating 302-338°F (150-170°C) (or made of AFLAS type rubber with temperature rating up to 392°F (200°C))
  • seal shafts are made of stainless steel to increase corrosion resistance.

Design characteristics of one-piece seal sections

Seals of closed type. It has two mechanical seals, diaphragm and hydro-lock (labyrinth) sections. Diaphragm bag is made of high temperature rubber (up to +302 °F (+150 °C)). When oil inside the seal expands, its excess is discharged through two check valves installed in series. This design allows using seal PB92 in the wells with high gas content. Gas entering the bag is released through the check valves that prevent bag failure.

Closed-type seal design is similar to the seal 4PB92A, except it has the hydrodynamic thrust bearing of bigger size, which is capable to take thrust load created by the pump up to 2645 lb (1200 kg). It is used in ESP systems where the design of the pumps does not have thrust bearing in pump sections.

Closed-type seal is similar to the seal PB92, except general rubber parts that are made of AFLAS with temperature rating up to 392 °F (200 °C).

The seal is designed for pumps of group 6 (for casing 6 ¨ý"). Its design is similar to the seal 3PB92, differing in its geometry and intended for motors of bigger power and dimensions with pumps each section of which has its own thrust bearing.

Closed-type seal design is similar to the seal 2PB92, except it has the thrust bearing which is capable to take thrust load created by the pump up to 1102 lb (500 kg)). It is used in ESP systems where the design of the pumps does not have thrust bearing in pump sections.

Design is similar to the seal PB114 and designed for pumps of group 5A (for casing 5 ¾"). Its differs with only mounting dimentions.

Closed-type seal design is similar to the seal 1PB92, except it has the hydrodynamic thrust bearing, which is capable to take thrust load created by the pump up to 1654 lb (750 kg). It is used in ESP systems where the design of the pumps does not have thrust bearing in pump sections.

Design is similar to the seal PB114, except it has the hydrodynamic reinforced thrust bearing, which is capable to take thrust load created by the pump up to 3307 lb (1500 kg). It is used in ESP systems where the design of the pumps does not have thrust bearing in pump sections.

Seal of closed type. It has two bag sections and three mechanical seals. This ensures more reliable electric motor protection against entering of formation fluid. Seal bags are made of high temperature rubber (up to +302 °F (+150 °C)). When oil expands, the excessive oil is discharged through three check valves installed in series. It is recommended for installation in wells with high gas content.

Seal section has three end seals, diaphragm, labyrinth sections and thrust bearing that can carry axial load up to 1500 kg. Head and base are made of corrosion-resistant steel.

Closed-type seal, its design is similar to the seal PB92, but it has better compensation capability. It is intended for tandem motors with power 188 hp to 402 hp (140 kw to 300 kw).

Seal section is the analogue of 3PB114A. It has enhanced compensating performances and designed for sectional motors with horsepower up to 500 kWt.

Seal is similar to the seal 3PB92T, except it is completed by general rubber parts made of AFLAS with temperature rating up to 392 °F (200 °C).

Closed-type seal design is similar to the seal PB114, except it has the hydrodynamic reinforced thrust bearing of bigger size, which is capable to take thrust load created by the pump up to 4409 lb (2000 kg). It is used in ESP systems where the design of the pumps does not have thrust bearing in pump section.

Open type seal section has three end seals and three labyrinth sections. It is designed for pumps with thrust bearings.

Seal section is the analogue of 3PB114A. It has different dimensions and is designed to complete submersible motors with 185 mm housing and centrifugal pumps of group 8.

Seal section is the analogue of 6PB92. It has a reinforced thrust bearing that is able to carry axial load up to 750 kg. This unit is designed for vertical wells (vertical deviation not more than 20°) with high temperature of formation fluid.
